Sandy Bridge 2500k 2600k FSX FPS Performance

This tread to collect any and all information on Sandy Bridge 2500k and 2600k FSX FPS Performance and Benchmarks. Im sure those of you that have seen the recent benchmarks on this processor must be drawling at the potential for this processor in flight sim applications which is very CPU intensive.

It will be great if the Sandy Bridge 2600k becomes the first processor to run FSX on ultra high with everything maxed and enabled with 25+ FPS minimum, something not even the 980x seems to be able to archive.

So if you own one, are testing one, or find a great review that benchmarks this processor with FSX please post it up

I'm curious.. the global high cfg.. i think that is a little different settings wise than the sliders on this thread? http://www.flightsimworld.com/forums...owtopic=140426

For instance, i ran mine with anisotropic and got around 68fps on my i7 950 at 4ghz (ati 5850 gpu)..

I have orbx ftx NA installed.. so i had to go into ftx central and change the mode from north america to fsx default.. this gave me more consistent results with everyone else.. Do you have ftx installed.. did you switch to default if so?

Any chance you could run the test using the sliders on that thread?

I'm weighing whether its worth switching to the 2600k or not, from the i7 950 at 4ghz.. i suspect possibly it is... seattle is the killer for frames.. and other areas similar to that, though otherwise inbetween i'm at 40+ fps.. but i'd like to be able to add some AI etc as well and crank it from 80% quality to 100%

I am the proud owner of a new Dell laptop that is equipped with the Sandy bridge, 2nd Gen Core i7 2630 and an nVidia GT555M. So far, my framerates average out at around 25fps. I can't complain as she runs FSX without fail, not to mention the laptop doesn't get wicked hot like my last one.

I'm running FSX with Acceleration and averaging excellent FPS. I followed Nicks tuning guide at the following site http://www.simforums.com/Forums/topic29041_page1.html

I'm averaging in cities such as KLAX 30+FPS with sliders set as per Nicks guide. Away from large cities or over ocean the FPS can go over 100 FPS. This motherboard and processor is amazing. The motherboard was selected as best buy on Toms Hardware site. Purchased mine as a DIY from Newegg for a total of $816.00 out the door. Not going to need to upgrade for quite some time. If your interested in a new processor for FSX/Gaming stick with the i5 vs i7. The price vs performance is far better with the i5 2500K than the i7. The only extra with the i7 is the addition of Hyperthreading (useless in gaming).
