Controls on FSX
New to the site, so forgive me if this has already been covered.
I have FSX and have two Joysticks. Am wondering is it possible to use one of the throttle controls on one joystick for all engines on the right side of the aircraft, while using the other joysticks throttle control for all the engines on the left side of the aircraft.
Just wondering how this can be set up, have had a go but can't seem to achieve this myself
Cheers for any help.

If you went and purchase FSUIPC which is reasonably cheap that may be possible, as you can assign any device as throttle, also does a better job of calibration.

Abbreviations seem to be popular on this forum. Is there a guide to abbreviations conveniently located somewhere around here?

Have no idea what it stands for but it has being around for a long time. It is basically a small programme that allows interfacing to FSX, there is a FS9 version as well, it is still used as it has some useful features, like wind smoothing, the ability to set profiles for each aircraft which it remembers, and a better calibration facility than FSX. It is still in use despite FSX having simconnect. It is cheap and should do what you want, It does take a little time to sort out. First thing you do is disale all the joystick settings in FSX so they wont interefer than set up FSUIPC and you are good to go. The free version which is used by a lot of aircraft designers does not have Joystick calibration avaliable.

Paste the fsuipc link into your browser, its quiet a good guide.

De Havilland Beaver
Hi there, I am new here. In my FSX, when I choose the De Havilland Beaver float plane, it stands on a solid runway but on floats, with no wheels. This way I cannot move nor fly this airplane. Could someone tell me how to lower the landing gear wheels for solid landings in the De Havilland Beaver?? I cannot find any lever at all in the cockpit controls.

Furhtermore, if this is not possible (IF THIS DE HAVILLAND BEAVER DOESN'T COME WITH WHEELS LANDING GEAR) then how do I start this airplane from a lake or other body of water rather than a solid runway?

The FSX default Beaver comes equiped only with pontoons. In the real world this versatile aircraft can be converted to wheels, pontoons or skis. As far as flying the FSX default aircraft, you have to start on a lake or river. The pontoon rudders are lowered into the water to taxi and then stowed within the pontoon for flight. After landing (without rudders) you simply lower them to taxi (check your setting under controls--there is a keyboard key assigned to this task)
Taking off and landing on water uses the same upwind approach as on land and when I use this aircraft for on line flying, I just advise ATC where I am located and I will file a flight plan for IFR flights
WATCH you taxi speed!!--There is no such thing as water brakes although you can slow the plane with reverse thrust
This is a fun plane and in the real world it is used a great deal in Northern Canada and the NW USA to resupply fishing/hunting camps and remote Native reservations

To steer the Dehavilland Beaver while on the water, how to activate the reverse trust
Thank-you very much for your so kind input !! I need to ask you another question regarding the pontoons ruders in the FSX De Havilland Beaver: I see them at the end at the rear of the pontoons, but they steer the aircraft very slowly on water: For example, yesterday I landed in a bay in Cuba and after the De Havilland Beaver was in the water and came to a crawl I tried to turn the aircraft before it got to the shore, in order to park it parallel to the beach, but I couldn't turn it fast enough and ended up climbing halfway on the sand at the beach ---> So how do you make this aircraft turn faster when it is on the water?; Which leads me to another question : ---> How do you activate the reverse trust in the De Havilland Beaver so I can back out from the sand?? I tried repeatedly the "shift"+"park" that I use to back up other wheeled aircraft, but it didn't work here.
Thanking you very much in advance for your detailed answers to this two questions,

The default Beaver in FSX isn't an amphib - floats only so you must select a waterway for departure. Not many in FSX so you'll have to look - perhaps a town on a lake shore. The water rudders will raise and lower with CTL W - down for water maneuvering, up for takeoff and flight.

Hi
I solved this taking off with a wheeled water craft, landed on a lake, shut down and saved the flight. After that, when I wanted to fly a float plane, I'd load the flight, and I was on the water.
Hope this helps,
Larry
